Viet Nam’s FDI momentum is raising the bar for FM
In the first nine months of 2026, according to the National Statistics Office, registered FDI reached US$50.36 billion, up 76.4% year-on-year, while disbursed FDI reached US$21.07 billion, the highest nine-month figure recorded in the past five years. Manufacturing and processing remained the largest recipient of newly registered FDI, attracting US$13.38 billion.
As more international businesses establish and expand their operations in Viet Nam, expectations around how facilities are managed are also evolving. For companies operating factories, offices, logistics facilities and multiple sites, FM plays an increasingly important role in controlling costs, maintaining operational performance and supporting business continuity.
International businesses also bring expectations shaped by their operations across global markets, including consistent standards, measurable performance and greater visibility over costs, compliance, energy use and sustainability. This is increasing demand for FM providers that can combine international best practice with strong local execution, adapting proven approaches to Viet Nam’s regulations and operating environment.
For Viet Nam’s FM industry, this shift creates an opportunity to strengthen professional standards, develop local talent and build greater connections with the global FM community.
IFMA is forming a professional platform for Viet Nam
Against this backdrop, the formation of an IFMA Vietnam Chapter marks an important step in the development of Viet Nam’s FM profession.
Founded in 1980, IFMA is a global professional association dedicated to advancing FM through education, professional development, knowledge sharing and recognised credentials. Today, its community comprises more than 25,000 members across over 140 countries.
For Viet Nam’s FM industry, the chapter is intended to provide greater access to international knowledge, professional education and recognised credentials, while creating a platform for practitioners, businesses and educators to exchange practical experience and connect with the wider global FM community.
Over time, a stronger professional ecosystem can help develop local talent, raise industry capability and support the continued professionalisation of FM in Viet Nam.
Savills brings industry experience to IFMA Vietnam Chapter in Formation
Representing Savills Vietnam, Luca Vadala, National Head of Integrated Facility Management (IFM) and a LEED Green Associate, is serving on the leadership team as Pro Tem Vice President of IFMA Vietnam Chapter in formation.
With extensive experience in business development and operations in Viet Nam, Luca has worked with industrial and commercial clients on integrated FM solutions covering market entry, operational set-up, day-to-day management and long-term performance.
“Facility Management is no longer simply about keeping individual services running. The real opportunity is to make the entire operating environment work as one,” said Luca Vadala, National Head of Integrated Facility Management at Savills Vietnam. “As businesses in Viet Nam become more complex, they need greater visibility across performance, costs and resources, supported by consistent processes, technology and data.”
This approach underpins Savills Integrated Facility Management model, which brings together technical operations, safety and security, cleaning, landscaping, workplace services and other support functions within one coordinated framework. Shared processes, technology, data and performance standards allow these functions to operate as part of a connected system rather than as separate services.
Technology is also becoming an increasingly important part of this model. Platforms such as Savills Property Cube bring operational data into a single digital environment, giving FM teams greater visibility over day-to-day activities and supporting faster, more informed decisions.
For businesses, an integrated approach can provide clearer accountability across multiple services, greater visibility over performance and costs, and more flexibility in how resources are coordinated across functions and locations.
Bringing this practical experience into his role with the Chapter, Luca will contribute market perspectives while strengthening connections between Viet Nam’s FM community and the wider ASEAN and global IFMA network.
“Viet Nam has a growing community of FM professionals with strong practical experience. The next step is to create more opportunities for that knowledge to be shared, while giving professionals greater access to international practices and development pathways,” Luca added. “IFMA will play an important role in bringing the industry together and supporting the next generation of FM professionals in Viet Nam.”
Through its growing professional community, the IFMA Vietnam Chapter in Formation can help connect international knowledge with local experience, supporting knowledge sharing, professional development and higher standards across Viet Nam’s evolving FM industry.
