Hanoi CBD’ Most Famous Buildings - Past, Present and Future

Located on the banks of the beautiful Red River, Hanoi is one of the most ancient capitals in the world. Hoan Kiem District being its oldest CBD, including lots of antique roads that carries many important buildings and attractions for centuries. From the district, it is convenient to connect to Hai Ba Trung, Ba Dinh, Dong Da and other main districts of Hanoi.

Hanoi CBD’ Buildings in the Past

There are many famous landmarks & buildings located inside the district; such as the Trang Tien Plaza, Hanoi Opera House or Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade, as well as the capital’s scenic Hoan Kiem Lake with cafes, shops, restaurants and many other facilities.

With nearly a century of age, those properties are to be valued as architectural heritages of the city. The government of Hanoi has been committed to protect the conditions of these buildings, by maintaining & improving them where possible, while still trying to keep it’s original characteristics.

Nowadays, the Trang Tien Plaza is one of the most well-known shopping centres of Hoan Kiem District, the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel still one of the most luxury hotels in all of Hanoi. It cannot be denied that Hanoi’s architectural history gives the city a unique flavor worth preserving. For some people, now the culture has changed, so the old buildings are something that remind them about the old days of the capital.

The Iconic International Centre

With its prime location at the junction of Trang Tien street and Ngo Quyen street, also directly adjacent to the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel; International Centre is one of the most iconic buildings in the very center of Hanoi’s CBD.

The above pictures show many periods of this building over the last 100 years. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, the building was the home of the Schneider Publishing House, a Graphique Store, and the Maison A. Ridet Store. Then, Mag Chaf (Magasins Chaffanjon) bought this building in 1950.

Being invested in 1995, International Centre became 8 levels high. Now in 2020, the building is currently undergoing a full renovation program, and will be fully equipped with luxury exteriors & interiors according to Grade A office standards.
